Hip dislocation from birth is not an uncommon problem. Now a day we have investigations and can diagnose this early. This can be managed with plasters or small operations during childhood.
If the hip stays out of the socket and is left untreated, it can be painful and also develop arthritis. These patients, not only have a problem due to pain in the hip and the spine but also feel socially left out due to the walk. We present a case of a young gentleman with hip dislocation from birth that was not treated. He came in shortening of 7 cm. This was treated with hip replacement. These complex surgeries need experience and special implants.
